Expert Interviews: In Vitro Characterization

Pre-clinical pharmacology and nanotoxicology dictate crucial parameters that need to be determined to successfully translate innovative nanomedicines into clinics.

PHOENIX-OITB offers a large number of tests within in vitro and in vivo characterization to perform an accurate and tailored study for each nano-pharmaceutical under development. This permits a better understanding of the biological effects and interactions with the cellular/biological compartments and the body, allowing to optimise the nanomedicine properties in order to avoid undesired side effects and toxicity.

Tommaso Serchi of Luxembourg Institute of Science and Technology (LIST) is coordinator of PHOENIX-OITB. He describes the in vitro services of the PHOENIX-OITB and their benefits for potential customers, as well as LIST’s experiences in demo cases of the project.
